How is the Fincanva platform structured and how do I navigate it?

Modified on Mon, 28 Apr at 5:38 PM

Fincanva’s platform is designed for simplicity and depth, giving you fast access to your investment tools while maintaining full control over strategy, data, and analysis. Whether you're building a portfolio or exploring screener results, here's how to find your way around.

Top Navigation Bar
Located at the top of every page, this menu gives you quick access to the core areas of the platform:

  • Portfolios: Build, manage, and analyze your strategies.
  • Screeners: Filter the market and discover investment opportunities.
  • Username Dropdown: Access your account settings, profile, subscription details, and general platform preferences.

Portfolio Section

  • Portfolio Library: This is where all your personal portfolios and Fincanva’s public portfolios are listed. Each row in the table represents a simulation up to yesterday—so you're seeing both the portfolio structure and a backtest in one. For each portfolio/simulation you can see  some summary KPIs, you can set the simulation’s starting date (double click on the date in the table) access the output or edit the portfolio settings. Simulation statuses include:
    •  Queued : Waiting to be processed.
    •  Computing : Currently running the simulation.
    •  Launch : Needs manual launch (though usually automatic).
    •  Ready : Simulation complete and output is available.
    •  Failed : An issue occurred during simulation.
  • Create New / Edit Portfolio: The page where you build new portfolios and models. The top section is for portfolio settings, while the bottom is where you define the models inside it.
Note: models can only be created or edited within this page—there’s no separate model section.
  • Portfolio Output: View the full results of a simulation here. You can also adjust simulation settings like applying taxes, costs, dividend reinvestment, or selecting a benchmark—directly within this section without needing to re-run the simulation.

Screener Section

  • My Screener: View your saved screeners. Click on one to see the matching results.
  • Create / Edit Screener:
    1. Universe Selection: Choose asset types and descriptive criteria like exchange or industry.
    2. Filters Section: Apply technical, fundamental, or market/sector-based filters.
    3. Results: See the list of matching assets immediately, with detailed metrics.

Account Section (via Username Menu)
Access the following:

  • Profile Settings: Personal details and login info.
  • Subscription and Billing: Manage your plan, upgrades, and payments.
  • Platform Settings: Set global preferences for simulations including like base currency and starting capital, tax regime and costs
