What does the Current State tab show in Fincanva simulations?

Modified on Wed, 16 Apr at 6:36 PM

The Current State tab in Fincanva gives you a real-time (or historical) snapshot of what your portfolio would look like if you had followed your strategy precisely. It’s designed to help you bridge the gap between simulation and real-world execution.

Rebalance Date Selection

Select a specific rebalance date from the dropdown to view your portfolio’s state at that point in time. This allows you to analyze past allocations or simulate what your portfolio would look like today.

Capital Input

Input your actual capital to scale the simulation’s output to your real-life portfolio size. This custom value will update:

  • Position sizes

  • Total investment values

  • Allocation charts and accuracy measures

Open Positions Table

This table displays all open positions at the selected rebalance date, with key information to help you execute or analyze the portfolio:

ColumnDescription
Target Value (Primary Currency)The target investment amount per asset based on your primary currency (can be set up in Account settings)
Target Value (Asset Currency)The target investment amount per asset expressed in the asset’s local currency.
Last PriceAsset price at the selected rebalance date.
PositionNumber of units the model targets based on the target value and price.
Actual PositionUnits you could realistically buy using your capital and the asset’s price.
Actual Value (Primary Currency)Value of the actual position, scaled to your capital.
AccuracyHow closely the actual position matches the target (accounting for rounding, lot sizes, capital limits).

Stop Loss and Take Profit Tracking

Fincanva helps you define Stop Loss and Take Profit levels for each position based on your model’s and portfolio rules. In this section, you’ll see:

  • Recommended Stop Loss (SL): The price level at which you'd consider exiting a position to limit downside risk.

  • Recommended Take Profit (TP): The price target at which you'd lock in gains based on the model’s logic.

These levels are calculated using your portfolio and model's settings, and they can be used to inform real-time execution or pending order setups.

Capital Allocation Donut Chart

Visualize how your capital is distributed across the portfolio:

  • Inside Model: Capital invested in assets included in each model

  • Outside Assets: Capital not currently allocated to any investable asset in your models

Clicking a model name in the accompanying table reveals a detailed breakdown of how capital is allocated within that specific model.

Use the Current State tab to:

  • Visualize your portfolio at any rebalance point

  • Translate simulation into actionable trades

  • Align your real-world execution with your strategy

  • Track pending orders and monitor TP/SL triggers

It’s the perfect tool to bring simulation insights into real investing decisions—with clarity and precision.
