How do I create a portfolio in Fincanva?

Modified on Mon, 28 Apr at 5:41 PM

Creating a portfolio in Fincanva allows you to design and manage your long-term investment strategy by combining models, defining how capital is allocated, and optionally applying risk rules. Follow the steps below to build your own portfolio.

1. Name your portfolio
Enter a name (required) that clearly describes your investment strategy. You can also add a short description (optional) to explain the portfolio’s goal or focus.

2. Set the rebalance frequency
Choose how often the portfolio should adjust its model allocations (e.g., monthly, quarterly). This defines how frequently the system will check and apply your rules.

3. Add one or more models
Select models that represent different investment strategies. For example, you might add one model for stocks and another for bonds.

4. Choose an allocation method
Decide how capital will be distributed among your models. Common methods include Equal Weights, Fixed Weights, or more advanced techniques like Risk Parity or MPT. If you activate risk management, you can also set different allocations methods for “risk-on” and “risk-off” states.

5. Set how much capital to invest
Define the percentage of capital to allocate to the portfolio vs. how much to hold in cash. If you activate risk management, you can also set different allocations for “risk-on” and “risk-off” states.

6. (Optional) Enable Risk Management
You can activate dynamic risk rules that adjust allocations based on market signals or thresholds. You can define risk management rules in the "Portfolio risk management" accordion

Once you’ve completed these steps and set up each model’s settings, click 'Save Portfolio' to begin using it in simulations or live monitoring.
