Applying a screener to a model in Fincanva allows you to control which assets your model can invest in. This step fine-tunes your Investable Universe and ensures your strategy is based on consistent, rules-driven criteria.

How to Apply a Screener

1. Open the model where you want to apply the screener.

2. Navigate to the Advanced screening section.

3. Select "Add screener in" or "Add screener out".

4. Choose one of the following options:

   • Use a saved screener you created in the Screener section.

   • Create a new screener directly within the model setup.

Screener Types

You can assign two types of screeners to your model:

Screener In

• Applied at each rotation (rebalance period).

• Defines which assets are eligible to enter or stay in the model.

• Ensures the model only considers assets that match your current filtering logic.

Screener Out

• Identifies which assets should be excluded from the model.

• Even if they were previously included, they will be removed if they now match the “out” conditions.

You can use these together to create dynamic strategies that respond to shifting market conditions or performance indicators.
