How do I create a screener in Fincanva?

Modified on Mon, 28 Apr at 5:34 PM

Creating a screener in Fincanva allows you to filter the investable universe using specific criteria, helping you identify assets that match your strategy. Whether you're building a new model or just exploring opportunities, screeners make the discovery process precise and efficient.

1. Click on the Screener tab in the main navigation header.

2. Click the Create New Screener button.

3. In the New Screener page, enter a Name for your screener. You can also add a Description (optional) to help organize or clarify its purpose.

4. In the Universe Selection section, choose the type of assets you want to screen. You can pick from:

  • Stocks (with options like exchange, sector, country, type, and index)

  • ETPs (such as ETFs, with filters like origin, currency, and exchange)

  • Cryptocurrencies

5. To add filters, click Add New Filter. A popup will appear with a list of available filters including:

  • Fundamental indicators (e.g., earnings, valuation metrics)

  • Technical indicators (e.g., moving averages, RSI)

  • Sector or market-based filters

Choose a filter, and use the cog icon next to it to set parameters like timeframe (e.g., “1 month ago”) or comparison type (e.g., greater than market average).

6. Review the Output Results section to see the list of assets that match your criteria. This updates dynamically as you add or adjust filters.

7. To save your screener:

  • If it's a new screener, click Save, and you’ll be prompted to select a folder.

  • If you're editing an existing screener, click Save to overwrite it, or choose Save As to create a copy—this will also ask you to select a folder.
