What is the Screener section in Fincanva and how do I use it?

The Screener section in Fincanva is your central hub for discovering, creating, organizing, and managing screeners. It provides a streamlined, intuitive interface for building asset filters based on a wide range of criteria — making it easier to support your strategy design process.

Your Screener Library

On the left panel, you’ll find:

• Saved screeners, neatly organized into custom folders.

• Fincanva default screeners, stored in a separate read-only folder.

You can create as many folders as you like, organizing them by strategy, asset type, theme, or any custom structure that fits your workflow.

To create a new folder:

1. Click the Create New Folder button.

2. Name your folder according to your organizational preferences.

Default Screeners

Fincanva provides a collection of pre-built screeners to help you get started or explore examples of effective filters. These screeners:

• Are located in a dedicated folder.

• Cannot be edited directly.

• Can be customized by creating a copy with the Save As or Create a Copy functions 

This approach helps you explore best practices while tailoring your own tools.

Viewing a Screener

Clicking on any screener opens its full details, including:

• Universe selection: Defines which asset classes (e.g., stocks, ETPs, crypto) are included.

• Applied filters: A list of filters and their specific configurations.

• Results table: A dynamic view of assets that match your filter conditions.

This layout makes it simple to understand how each screener works, tweak parameters, or apply filters to your models or Investable Universe.
